{"id":11269,"date":"2021-10-28T13:33:58","date_gmt":"2021-10-28T13:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rmff.org\/?p=11269"},"modified":"2025-12-05T18:38:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T18:38:14","slug":"marian-universitys-klipsch-educators-college-prepares-future-teachers-for-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rmff.org\/fr\/2021\/10\/marian-universitys-klipsch-educators-college-prepares-future-teachers-for-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Marian University\u2019s Klipsch Educators College Prepares Future Teachers for Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"11269\" class=\"elementor elementor-11269\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a9e07e4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"1a9e07e4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-33430f97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"33430f97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Teacher quality is an important driver of student success, but many emerging educators lack practice in teaching within a\u00a0K-12\u00a0classroom environment.\u00a0Black and Hispanic\/Latino individuals are also underrepresented among educators and school leaders,\u00a0while racial disparities in student achievement outcomes persist.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Identifying a need to improve student outcomes and increase the diversity of\u00a0Indianapolis\u2019\u00a0educator pipeline,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marian.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marian University<\/a>\u00a0redesigned and transformed\u00a0its\u00a0college of education into the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marian.edu\/educators-college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fred S. Klipsch Educators College<\/a>\u00a0in 2016.\u00a0The College applies international best practices to\u00a0more effectively prepare high-quality teachers,\u00a0while growing the supply of Black and Hispanic\/Latino educators in Indianapolis.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>The\u00a0College works to effectively prepare students by immersing them in practice.\u00a0Students\u00a0begin\u00a0gaining teaching\u00a0experience\u00a0during their first year in the program through the College\u2019s\u00a0simulation\u00a0lab.\u00a0The program also requires\u00a0students to\u00a0complete a year-long\u00a0paid residency\u00a0and acquire\u00a0both\u00a0pedagogical\u00a0teaching expertise and\u00a0subject-matter content knowledge.\u00a0Students\u00a0obtain\u00a0about 250-300 clinical experience hours during their time in the College.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>The Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation has awarded $2,650,000 since 2016 to support\u00a0the\u00a0development, start-up implementation efforts and establishment of the\u00a0Fred S.
