Fairbanks Foundation is pleased to announce it is awarding one-time grants to six Indianapolis nonprofit organizations addressing homelessness intervention and prevention as a part of its annual Charitable Grants program. This year\u2019s recipients are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fpgi.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Family Promise<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indyhealthnet.org\/hip\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HealthNet Homeless Initiative Program<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horizonhouse.cc\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Horizon House<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianayouthgroup.org\/projectprism\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Indiana Youth Group<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outreachindiana.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Outreach, Inc.<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourhouse.org\/index.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The PourHouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2021, the Fairbanks Foundation has awarded what we refer to as Charitable Grants, which are one-time, $25,000 grants to Indianapolis organizations based on a funding theme that reflects the pressing needs in Indianapolis.&nbsp;The Charitable Grants program continues the legacy of Dick Fairbanks\u2019 interest in making small, unrestricted grants to organizations where these dollars could make a significant impact.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s funding theme, homelessness intervention and prevention, is of particular relevance at this time. Indianapolis city and community leaders have identified housing instability and a lack of support services to help families achieve stable housing as a critical issue&nbsp;\u2013 one that comes with significant impacts on the health, education&nbsp;and economic outcomes of Indianapolis.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual count of people experiencing homelessness in Marion County has held relatively steady over the past decade, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmff.org\/community-data-snapshot\/vitality-of-indianapolis\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more than 1,600 people<\/a> identified as experiencing homelessness in the January 2023 point-in-time count.
